It is no longer an anomaly to watch a 19 year old young man play in the NBA. However, this one is from Spain and that is unusual. The Boston Celtics seem to have found another young rookie in the international scouting department.

Hugo Gonzalez is a young Spanish rookie guard for the Boston Celtics, drafted 28th overall in 2025, making an immediate impact with strong defense and efficient play off the bench, highlighted by his first career double-double (10 pts, 10 reb) in late December 2025, becoming one of the youngest Celtics with that feat and leading rookies in plus/minus. He’s earning trust from coach Joe Mazzulla for his instincts and playmaking, despite modest overall stats in his initial NBA games

Debut: Made his NBA debut in October 2025.

Hugo Gonzalez has exceptionally large hands for a guard, measuring 10.25 inches (26 cm) at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine, making it the second-longest hand measurement in combine history, behind only Tacko Fall‘s 10.5 inches. His hands are tied with Dexter Pittman and Xavier Tillman and are a significant advantage for the 6’6″ guard, giving him great control and defensive ability.

Topps created a limited variation of 3 or 4 different game action images on the 2025-26 Hugo Gonzalez Rookie Card. There is not a lot of difficulty in finding these cards.

His production quantity is high. Often found as a pack filler rookie card.

His high value variation limited insert copies can be between $3 and $20. There are a couple of exceptions ranging into the $100 range and as high as $300.

Despite Hugo’s abundance of USA Topps produced cards, we did find one interesting international trading card. The Hugo Gonzalez 2023-International Star Rookie card. Hugo wearing the Team Spain red jersey, face image, rookie card.

The current rarity of this Team Spain rookie card is unknown by Fat Hat Collectibles in Europe, but this card is not found to be overly abundant in the USA. The market price of this international card is higher than most of his USA Topps rookie cards, seeking as much as $20 in some markets. See photo below:

Hugo is an interesting target for collectors, as Boston Celtic fans engulf stars and Hugo fits their taste of being a ‘Mr. Hustle’ on the basketball court.

His current on court performance remains high, and at such a young age, his NBA career shouldn’t be short lived. Hugo is a respectable collectible target.
