Bobby Bowden Estate Auction

Inside the Huge Bobby Bowden Auction

The estate of legendary Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden is set to go up for auction in March 2026, offering fans, collectors, and Seminoles enthusiasts a unique chance to own pieces of his storied legacy. The auction is described as a “50-year time capsule” of Bowden’s life and career.

Bobby Bowden

Known as one of the most successful coaches in college football history, Bobby Bowden passed away on August 8, 2021, at age 91 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He led FSU for 34 seasons (1976–2009), amassing 377 career wins (second all-time in Division I at the time of his retirement), two national championships (1993 and 1999), and transforming the Seminoles into a perennial powerhouse with 14 straight top-5 finishes in the Associated Press poll from 1987–2000. His folksy charm, faith-driven approach, and “dadgummit” personality made him a beloved figure in the sport.

The Bobby Bowden Legacy Auction, managed by Wiregrass Auction Group of Thomasville, Georgia, will be conducted online and feature hundreds (potentially up to thousands) of personal items, sports memorabilia, family heirlooms, and more from Bowden’s long-time home. Organizers say the sale may extend over multiple days, potentially making it one of the most extensive auctions ever conducted for a coach’s estate.

Among the items up for sale are memorabilia from his championship seasons, letters and correspondence from well-known people both in and out of sports, memorabilia from championship seasons, items signed by former FSU greats, photos and prints, unique items from his time on the sidelines and more personal memorabilia.

Adding to the significance, the auction includes Bowden’s 4,600-square-foot Killearn Estates home in Tallahassee—where he and his wife Ann lived for over 45 years—along with its contents. Bidding will open with modest starting prices to encourage broad participation, with previews and open houses planned for in-person viewing.
